It's 1967 when the two sisters Juliet and Evangeline are dumped by their overtired mother Marguerite with their grandparents (Ruby and Walt) on their Texas farm. Their father recently went to go serve in Vietnam and when their mother drives off almost guilt-free to resume her singing career in New York, Ruby and Walt have no choice but to make the right choice: take the girls under their wing. Despite the fact that Juliet and Evangeline miss their father and even their mother very much, the two thrive with their grandparents. Nearly 30 years later, Juliet has never left town and is now the enthusiastic local radio host. Evangeline on the other hand, due to an incident with her sister, has chosen to move away and break with her sister. Now that Grandpa Walt's health is fading, Juliet makes her younger sister come back to see her grandfather one more time. Fortunately, the incident does not stand in the way of a warm revival of their sisterly love.
Humor heartbreak and triumph are being served in this story about family friendship and forgiveness.
