Alexandra Park is a socially engaged school counselor who also runs a community centre for teens. Unfortunately, she has rent arrears and is at risk of being evicted from the building in which the centre is situated. To make matters worse she is intimidated by a selfish investor who wants her to vacate the property so he can buy it. In her desperation she comes up with a plan to save the community centre. She contacts her ex-boyfriend Max, who is a screenplay writer. Together they come up with a musical fundraiser called 'One Star Rising'. And they cast the talentened teens who hang around community centre to star in the production. Will they manage to raise enough funds?
