De Groeten van Mike is a moving Dutch family film about eleven-year-old Mike, who, after months in the hospital, is finally allowed to go home. His dream falls apart when his mother – who struggles with alcohol problems and has great difficulty getting her life back on track – doesn’t come to pick him up. As Christmas approaches, the doctors and nurses grow increasingly worried. A dedicated nurse calls in Child Protection Services, because it seems that Mike will have to be placed in a foster family for a while.
