First year student Josh Wheaton is a devout Christian whose faith is challenged by his philosophy professor Radisson. Josh and his fellow students are instructed to deny the existence of God in order to pass the course. The students have no reservations about following Radisson's instructions, however, Josh bravely stands up to him. To which professor Radisson presents him with the following assignment; over the next semester Josh needs to prove the existence of God by collecting rational arguments and evidence that he can use in a debate with professor Radisson. But it seems that during the first two debates, the professor has an answer to everything Josh is saying. Until Josh finally asks: "Why do you hate God?" and the professor explodes with anger explaining he hates god for his mother's dead. To which Josh' answer is: "How can you hate someone who doesn't exist?". This is the moment most students declare Josh the winner of the debate. God's not dead is a powerful film about standing your ground and not giving up your beliefs.
